Seafood Summits

The Alliance continues our popular series of “seafood summits” – built to reach retailers, chefs, and seafood distributors about the progress of American Red Snapper toward recovery.

Many of our inland friends are not aware of the many programs and systems that have been put in place to ensure the sustainability of the Gulf Fishery. By taking our fishermen on a “seafood summit” roadshow, we’re actually bringing the Gulf (with our engaging overview of important consumer issues) right to fish-lovers and supporters like you.

The purpose of the summits is to introduce the Alliance, and the high quality, eco-friendly fish its members catch, to influential seafood buyers (including chefs, purveyors and distributors), and to solicit input from them on their current purchasing of Gulf red snapper, their views on seafood sustainability, and other factors affecting their purchasing decisions.

The long-term goal is to place red snapper and other fish from the Gulf IFQ program into high value markets.

To date, we have taken our Seafood Summits to venues such as the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, the New England Aquarium in Boston, and SeaWorld in Orlando. If you’d like us to visit your city or affiliated group, please contact us today to explore the possibilities.

Shareholders’ Alliance is pleased to partner with the World Wildlife Fund, the Sustainable Fishery Partnership, the Ocean Conservancy and the Environmental Defense Fund to promote marketing of red snapper sustainably harvested under the Gulf IFQ plan.
