The Gulf of Mexico Reef Fish Shareholders' Alliance (Shareholders' Alliance) is a fishermen's organization run by fishermen for fishermen. Everything we do is founded in our belief that conservation and stewardship protect fish populations and fishermen's businesses. We do this from the ground up as commercial fishermen creating positive change.
The Shareholders’ Alliance is a proactive, resilient, and effective organization of commercial fishermen in the Gulf of Mexico that advocates for accountable and sustainable fisheries, public access to American seafood, profitable fishing businesses, and a durable IFQ system.
The Gulf of Mexico Reef Fish Shareholders’ Alliance launched the first Quota Bank in the Gulf of Mexico in 2015 to reduce red snapper discards in the eastern Gulf and to support the next generation of commercial red snapper fishermen.
We believe that it is our responsibility to support good science and data, to educate regional and federal regulators, and to play an active role in shaping our commercial fishing regulations.
We are working to support the next generation of conservation-minded commercial fishermen that are stepping up to carry on a tradition that has existed for hundreds of years in the Gulf of Mexico.
We help tell your story to the world – a story of hard-working men and women who believe in a future where policies are based on sound science, where fishermen collaborate with regulators, and where wild, sustainably-harvested seafood continues to feed the American public.
When you see a Gulf Wild™ tag or notice the Gulf Wild™ brand in your local restaurant or fish market, you know that you are supporting the only seafood traceability program in the nation that was built by fishermen for fishermen.
